Compare LaunchBrightly
Stagewright vs LaunchBrightly
LaunchBrightly and Stagewright both put fresh, approved images of your product into your help center. LaunchBrightly is built around screenshots and short animations: it captures your product from the outside with a demo login and no code access, audits the images already in your articles for visual changes, and syncs the ones you approve into Zendesk, Intercom and other help centers, or into a docs repo by pull request. Stagewright records whole flows from a script in your repo, with narration, on every pull request, so the steps, screenshots and video are checked together and a broken flow is filed before merge. LaunchBrightly needs no engineering and supports more help centers. Stagewright needs a walkthrough per flow and checks more than the picture.
What LaunchBrightly is, in its own words
LaunchBrightly offers to “Automatically generate fresh screenshots and animated videos of your product, detect UI changes, and sync approved updates directly to your help articles.” Its visual audits run “Every Release… Every product change triggers a fresh visual audit against what’s currently in your help articles, instantly alerting you to what changed.” It “works entirely from the outside, behaving like one of your users would — no privileged access, custom APIs, or engineering-built integrations to maintain.” Approval is built in: “Approve an updated screenshot once, and LaunchBrightly automatically syncs it everywhere it’s used — whether that’s one article or dozens.”
How they differ
The unit. LaunchBrightly’s unit is the image in an article. Stagewright’s is the flow: a walkthrough’s steps, narration, screenshots and video come from one recording and are checked together. Writers point out why that matters: “If the settings button had moved to another dialog box and that’s why this person couldn’t find it, the issue isn’t the settings button - the entire procedure needs to be updated. A new screen cap isn’t solving that problem.” (r/technicalwriting)
The moment. LaunchBrightly audits what’s live in your help center. Stagewright runs on the pull request, so the change shows up in code review, with before and after frames, and a broken flow is filed before it ships.
Who sets it up. LaunchBrightly’s own comparison pages talk to support teams, and it needs no “engineering-built integrations.” Stagewright starts in the repo: a walkthrough is a file, written by an engineer, a coding agent, or drafted from the feature’s code, and support edits narration from the dashboard.

Where LaunchBrightly is better
- No engineering. It works from outside the product with a login. Stagewright needs the repo and a walkthrough per flow.
- Screenshot depth. Screenshots are the whole product: audits against what’s already published, per-language captures, and a capture API.
- More help centers and docs repos. Freshdesk, Help Scout, Helpjuice, Mintlify and GitHub docs repos, which Stagewright doesn’t publish to.
- Public prices and a free plan, plus a 10-day proof of concept that includes “Your first audit against what’s live today.”
Choose LaunchBrightly if
- Your help center is full of screenshots, and keeping those images current is the job.
- The docs or support team should own it end to end, without the repo.
Choose Stagewright if
- You want the whole flow checked, steps and labels included, not only the picture.
- You want narrated video and articles from the same run as the screenshots.
- Engineering should see the change on the pull request, and broken flows should be filed with video before merge.
FAQ
Does LaunchBrightly run on pull requests? Its GitHub and Mintlify integrations open pull requests into a docs repository with new screenshots. We found no check on the product repository’s pull requests, per its public docs as of October 2026.
Can Stagewright update screenshots in articles it didn’t write? It reads your Intercom, Zendesk or Productlane articles, maps each to a feature, and marks it stale, failing or fresh. When a walkthrough linked to an article is approved, the article is updated as a draft with new steps and screenshots. Articles with no walkthrough are listed as not checked.
